poietic.tech is a personal site run by Benjamin Small. Using it means accepting what follows. It is short because the site is small.
What this is
A personal portfolio and log of work, with optional accounts so visitors can comment on entries. It is not a product, there is nothing to buy, and no fee is charged.
Accounts
You may create an account by signing in with GitHub or Google. In doing so you agree that:
- The provider account you use is yours.
- You will not impersonate another person, including through your display name.
- You are responsible for what is posted from your account.
Your email address identifies your account. If you sign in with a second provider using an address that already has an account here, you will be told to use the original provider rather than having a second account created. Accounts are not merged automatically.
Comments
Every comment is reviewed before it appears. Posting one is not a guarantee of publication, and nothing obliges the owner to publish, explain a decision, or keep a published comment up.
Do not post:
- Unlawful, harassing, hateful, or threatening content.
- Someone else's personal information.
- Spam, advertising, or links whose purpose is promotion.
- Malware, or attempts to break, probe, or overload the site.
- Content you do not have the right to post.
Comments are limited in length and in how many you may post per hour. Those limits exist to keep the review queue usable and may change without notice.
What you keep, and what you grant
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you grant permission to display your comment on this site, alongside the display name you had at the time. That permission lasts as long as the comment is published; ask for it to be removed and it will be.
The site's own content — the writing, the code samples, the design — belongs to Benjamin Small. Quote it with attribution; do not republish it wholesale.
Availability
This is one person's site. It may be offline, change without warning, lose features, or stop existing. No uptime is promised and none should be assumed. Comments and accounts are backed up on a best-effort basis only — keep your own copy of anything you would mind losing.
Ending access
You may delete your account at any time by emailingben@poietic.tech. Access may be withdrawn, and comments removed, for anything in the list above — or for conduct that makes running the site worse, at the owner's discretion.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing here is professional advice.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Benjamin Small is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of this site, including lost data or lost profits. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred United States dollars.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes a consumer-protection right your local law gives you and does not permit you to waive.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.
